Jun. 16th, 2006 09:45 pm I admit guilt for my truancy.

I suppose I should make a manifestation on livejournal.com a little bit more. So, this is the start. so....yeah...

Last week I was out biking. And I invited a friend that I work with. We ended up going about 18 miles or so. But, within those 18 miles....there were a few wipe-outs. Just so we all know....we are mountain biking. Up hills...over small drops....through bushes...and so on...
There was this damn root that got the best of me. I was riding along and saw this root. I could not go around to the left or right due to abundance of trees. So, I had no choice but to run over this damn root. I made the pedals even with the ground to get them as high off the ground as possible. Now, this damn root was not stuck in the ground where it really belonged...Oh no...this damn root was loose above ground and was quite bouncy I must say. Well, anyways....I ran over it and after the front tire hit it...the damn root bounced up(because it is a bouncy one) and caught my left foot on the pedal. I was going about 12MPH...so I could not just stop to get my foot out. Matter of fact...there was no time for anything. So, going forward at 12MPH and my foot getting caught on a root... the bike was thrown forward at an angle and the front gears went into my right leg and rolled up. I went sliding across the ground for a few feet which only skinned up my left leg. And the chain got jammed. After I realized what just happened...I looked up to see my buddy just up the trail watching calmly. That Bastard! So, I have this neat little dotted line up my right leg. Yeah,....mountain biking is a lot of fun.

Feb. 25th, 2006 11:42 am Idaho

It is slightly cold here in Idaho. I am up here to play for a Jazz Festival. We have done three performances and we have one final concert tonight. I must say that this festival has been quite enjoyable. Moscow, Idaho(where the festival takes place) is very small. Other than that...this is pretty freaking cool. On Sunday, we will meet the rest of the Band in New Orleans for a Mardi Gras Parade. SO.....to anyone that happens to be going to Mardi Gras....see you there!

Feb. 17th, 2006 04:47 pm Friday...

Today was a check shit done type of day. Lots of practice and cleaning. Everything is clean...so that is good. But, I am not done practicing yet.

Beth went to the Military Entrance Processing Station(MEPS for short) to sign her papers for Active Duty Army and well....they did not have their shit together. She was up at 4:45 am to go over there and she stayed until 4:25 pm and they got nothing done. So, she must go back on Tuesday to get this stuff done.

Now it is time for dinner.

Feb. 16th, 2006 08:23 pm funny stuff

Once upon a time the government had a scrap yard in the middle
Of a desert. Congress said," Someone may steal it at night."

So they created a night watchman position and hired a person
At $18,000.00 a year for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job
Without instruction?" So they created a planning department
And hired two people -- one person to write the instructions
For $22,000.00 and one person to do time studies
For an additional $22,000.00 per year.

Then congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is
Doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality control department and hired two people. One was to do the studies for $31,000.00 And one to write the reports for an additional $31,000,00 per year.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?"
So they created the following positions: A time keeper for a $35,000.00 annual salary And a payroll officer for an additional $35,000.00

Then they created an administrative section and hired
Three more people -- an Administrative Officer at $155,000.00
Per year, an Assistant Administrative Officer at $125,000.00
And a Legal Secretary at $100,000.00 per year.

Then Congress said, "We have had this operating for one year
With a budget cost of $574,000.00 ... and we are $18,000.00 over budget. We must cut back costs."

SO THEY LAID OFF THE NIGHT WATCHMAN.

Feb. 15th, 2006 07:34 pm ok

It is almost dinner time. So...I would like to wish everyone a happy 15th of February. So, yeh....

Beth is signing her Army papers on Friday. She will be off to the United States Armed Forces School of Music at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, VA. We do not know when she is leaving exactly but we think it might be next month. So, that will suck for a while. The school is six months. They are trying to get her over here to Fort Sam Houston, TX as soon as possible. We will see how that goes.

Next week I am going to Idaho for a few days to play in a jazz festival. Then, I will be down in New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Then, a little bit after Mardi Gras a fellow trombonist and I will be off to Washington D.C. to play at the Eastern Trombone Workshop. That should be a blast.

That is pretty much the new shit.

Feb. 15th, 2006 02:21 pm One down....whats next

We just got finish playing a recital at the Brooke Army Medical Center. It was pretty good. Nobody died from hearing the music so I would say that it was a success. Now, I must go rehearse with the Latin Band. That should be fun. The Latin Band just makes me more aware of my whitness. So....off I go.

Feb. 11th, 2006 05:04 pm Saturday

Well...I have news. It is Saturday. That is the news.

I have been fighting the damn weeds in my yard. They are a bitch. I got some Bayer weed killer and well...they laughed at me. So...I got some Roundup. They are looking at the ground a little more today. I got the powerful Roundup though. The kind that kills all weeds and all grass. So...I think I will go get some grass seed for the soon to be dead spots in my yard.

That is about how my Saturday has gone thus far.

Feb. 7th, 2006 10:08 am Alright

This week has followed a strange format. The days are turned around almost...well as far as work is concerned. I really do not know how to explain that but...trust me it is different.
Tomorrow afternoon I have to teach a class. The class is Requesting Medical Evacuation during war and peacetime. Does it sound fun? Well, I don't think so. Basically I must explain the Standard 9 Line MEDEVAC Request format and make sure they can transmit the request in a timely manner with correct radio procedures. We will see how that goes.

Things are a little slow at work today. But, I am not complaining...that just means I have time to practice. So, I shall go practice.

Feb. 3rd, 2006 09:04 pm Time to enjoy the weekend

Today, at work, was not very productive. We played a few pieces of music but I really do not know what they were. After work is where most things of any signifigance occurs. I actually had time to sit down and practice a few small ensemble pieces that have been beating me up over this week. So, I hammered out the rough edges in those and now I am good to go. I am going to go over them again tonight. As of right now there is not much planned for the weekend. We might go over to a friend's house for the super bowl. But, I think that is about it. Tomorrow will most likely be a whole lot of lounging, watching movies, practicing, surf the net, walking the dogs, and eating a bit in there too.
